What is a Food Safety Plan?

A Food Safety Plan is FDA’s answer to Food Safety Modernization Act of 2011. Much like a HACCP Plan, the Food Safety Plan is a mandatory requirement for all food processors of products other than meat, poultry, seafood or juice. The Final Rule on Preventive Controls for Human Food has mandated Food Safety Plans for these types of ‘non-HACCP’ food processors effective September 2016 through September of 2018 depending on size.

For more information see FSMA Final Rule for Preventive Controls for Human Food.
